Do you ever feel like your mind, life and house is cluttered? If you’re a neat freak, perhaps not, but maybe the clutter is still there but manifesting in other ways. For instance, you may be so obsessed with making sure your house isn’t cluttered that you leave little space for joy and presence in your life.
If, like me, you are more prone to creating mountains of unfolded laundry, you may be feeling your home is just a reflection of your confused and disorganised inner-world. But now is not the time to be hard on yourself. The simple solution to dealing with the depressing mound of clothes is to tackle it, one item at a time.
My challenge for you today is to do one thing that helps you create space in your home, your environment, your mind or heart… or all four.
Throw out clothes you no longer wear, get rid of broken furniture and toys, organise a shelf in your pantry and donate unwanted canned food to a food charity.
The other day a friend of mine said to me “if it doesn’t give you a spark of joy, then get rid of it.” Now, sometimes we feel that way about children, partners, parents etc… I’m not suggesting you get rid of the people you love when they annoy you, but I am suggesting that you find ways to create space for yourself in your daily life so you can better deal with the stresses of relationships, family and anything else that is thrown your way.
What one thing can you start with today to help you create space? Do it now and share how you you went on social media. Don’t forget to tag me at mumatopia and let me know.
