For those of you not going on the Mums’s Retreat next weekend, there is a fantastic activity planned for Sunday as part of the Ipswich Festival. The Kids Kingdom will be alive with wonder and excitement and Scooby Doo according the brochure. And I just found out a good friend of mine, Barbara Fordham aka Whoa Tilly! Will be performing that afternoon. Here’s a run down of her [...]  The October Handmade Expo is on this Saturday, from 8am to 2pm. Mumatopia will be there with Sandwich wraps, affirmation bracelets, soap nuts, organic reusable breastpads and baby wipes, Bubbayaya Toys, fabric gift tags, clothes from Little Brown Dog, and baby wraps. Come and say gidday! I’ll be there rain, hail or shine…. hopefully [...] Next Saturday, Mumatopia is joining forces with Fordicia and Precious Packages at the Ipswich Baby, Toddler and Child Expo. Baby expos are a terrific way to gather information on products and services available to families in the local community. Stop by and say gidday, enter our free raffle, and learn all about the benefits of having a doula at your birth, hypnobirthing, and Precious Packages wonderful new baby [...] I don’t normally plug individual products on Mumatopia but am making an exception today as I am just so happy to have found some poster paints for the kids that are environmentally friendly. Enviro Kids Paints are made in Australia and are made from organic pigments and bio-degradable thickeners that are non-toxic and don’t harm the environment. [...] For those who have been missing Mumatopia in their visits to The Handmade Expo, I’ll be back this month with heaps of new stock. The Handmade Expo is on once a month at the Ipswich Turf Club, Brisbane Road, Bundamba. This month’s Expo features performer Soulman O’Gaia. Soul has featured with John Butler, Paul Kelly, Xavier Rudd, Archie Roach and Tex Perkins. [...] I know this is really short notice but I wanted to let you all know about a new annual festival launching today out at Warrego Wines near Marburg. It’s FREE ENTRY and is going to be lots of fun. Mumatopia and Little Brown Dog will be there with our peeps and our sustainable craft and upcycled fashion. So make sure you come and say [...] We are putting the finishing touches on preparations for tomorrow’s Mumatopia launch and boutique market. I am madly baking away. Nicole just came over and turned my mop into a work of art (my hair that is) and the kids are sneaking treats from the fridge. Hopefully they won’t sneak too many as we’ll need [...] When it comes to nurturing mums, I don’t like to do things by halves and I’m so pleased that friends I have made over the past few months, from likeminded Ipswich businesses, feel the same way. We thought about giving away the usual paper bag full of business cards but decided that we wanted to step it up a notch and provide something really unique…. thus the fabric, upcycled goodie bag was born. [...] What a busy week it has been. My living room has threads and fabric everywhere and there are sandwich wraps in odd corners of the house. The cat is wondering why I’m particularly cranky about her presence anywhere near my sewing machine and the kids are counting sleeps till they get their mother back in both body and spirit. I guess I have been a tad pre-occupied. It’s a good thing I don’t run events for a living.
