As parents, it can be really difficult to sift through all the advice that is out there. Everyone, from the expert on Youtube to the childless neighbour across the road, has an opinion on how we should parent and these days mother-guilt starts way before a child is even born. So, you can imagine my joy at finding The Ultimate Parenting Course. [...]  For those of you not going on the Mums’s Retreat next weekend, there is a fantastic activity planned for Sunday as part of the Ipswich Festival. The Kids Kingdom will be alive with wonder and excitement and Scooby Doo according the brochure. And I just found out a good friend of mine, Barbara Fordham aka Whoa Tilly! Will be performing that afternoon. Here’s a run down of her [...] Yesterday I invited a lovely 19 year old girl into my home to give me a hand with the kids as I’m pretty snowed under. We don’t use regular daycare so it really helps to have someone available from time to time and when I have a client to attend to. I don’t want to just offer a service which is a quick fix to busy mothers, I want to offer a service which makes a difference to their physical and emotional wellbeing in the long-term. If they can move forward into adulthood with a strong sense of themselves, with self-confidence and joy, then that is worth more than all math, spelling, and trivial facts they’ll learn along the way. I am so grateful for the loving people I have in my life right now, for the honest conversations that guide our [...] I’ve often wondered at the wisdom of me jumping in all guns blazing to resolve a fight. Reason is not possible when there is so much adrenalin in the air and sometimes I think, boys just need to physically deal with their anger and [...] I find it hard to let go much of the time but am learning to be less paranoid as the years go by. I try not to hold my breath when my five year old climbs high into a tree and I try to trust that my children know how to get to the loo and back in the shopping centre without talking to a bunch of strangers. Baby expos are a terrific way to gather information on products and services available to families in the local community. Stop by and say gidday, enter our free raffle, and learn all about the benefits of having a doula at your birth, hypnobirthing, and Precious Packages wonderful new baby [...] I don’t normally plug individual products on Mumatopia but am making an exception today as I am just so happy to have found some poster paints for the kids that are environmentally friendly. Enviro Kids Paints are made in Australia and are made from organic pigments and bio-degradable thickeners that are non-toxic and don’t harm the environment. [...] Oh what a night indeed! More than 200 guests ventured into our little market on Saturday evening to celebrate the launch of Mumatopia. If you ever thought Ipswich women weren’t interested in sustainable style, think again. The goodie bags were a huge hit and were snapped up within 1.5 hours, the pizza guy sold out of pizzas, the stalls had the most beautiful gifts for mums, dads and babies and the entertainment had the littlies absolutely entranced.
