Oh what a night indeed! More than 200 guests ventured into our little market on Saturday evening to celebrate the launch of Mumatopia. If you ever thought Ipswich women weren’t interested in sustainable style, think again. The goodie bags were a huge hit and were snapped up within 1.5 hours, the pizza guy sold out of pizzas, the stalls had the most beautiful gifts for mums, dads and babies and the entertainment had the littlies absolutely entranced. We are putting the finishing touches on preparations for tomorrow’s Mumatopia launch and boutique market. I am madly baking away. Nicole just came over and turned my mop into a work of art (my hair that is) and the kids are sneaking treats from the fridge. Hopefully they won’t sneak too many as we’ll need [...] When it comes to nurturing mums, I don’t like to do things by halves and I’m so pleased that friends I have made over the past few months, from likeminded Ipswich businesses, feel the same way. We thought about giving away the usual paper bag full of business cards but decided that we wanted to step it up a notch and provide something really unique…. thus the fabric, upcycled goodie bag was born. [...] What a busy week it has been. My living room has threads and fabric everywhere and there are sandwich wraps in odd corners of the house. The cat is wondering why I’m particularly cranky about her presence anywhere near my sewing machine and the kids are counting sleeps till they get their mother back in both body and spirit. I guess I have been a tad pre-occupied. It’s a good thing I don’t run events for a living. [...] With only 10 days to go till the Mumatopia launch, I thought I’d give you an update on what we have on offer on the night. [...] Bec (from Little Brown Dog) and I are going to have a stall at the Mount Crosby Country Market again, this Sunday August [...] I was at the Mount Crosby Country Market, minding my own business, when a familiar face entered my canopy. It was none other than Kerryanne Farrer, a brilliant arts producer who I happened to work with at The Woodford Folk Festival many moons ago. I love it when you can take off where you left off. We hadn’t seen Kerryanne for 10 years. In the meantime we had spawned three children and created a life out in this lovely semi-rural area near Mount Crosby. [...] I love Reverse Garbage. Love it! Love it! Love it! Did I say I love it? The other day the peeps and I went for our semi-regular trip into the West End to throw ourselves into the goodies and trinkets galore that abound in Reverse Garbage. [...] It has taken months for me to feel like I have things on track for Mumatopia. My vision was to combine my passion for birth with my passion for writing and to give the women who live in this beautiful region lots of fantastic information on quality, local resources to assist them on their pregnancy and parenting journeys. I finally feel like everything is coming together as it should and so, on August 14th, I am celebrating with an intimate boutique market at Precious Packages, 9 Harlin Road, Ipswich. [...] |
