As parents, it can be really difficult to sift through all the advice that is out there. Everyone, from the expert on Youtube to the childless neighbour across the road, has an opinion on how we should parent and these days mother-guilt starts way before a child is even born. So, you can imagine my joy at finding The Ultimate Parenting Course. [...]  Last night, at the first ever Business with Heart networking event, 24 business and community leaders started a movement. It was truly one of the most inspiring and uplifting events I’ve ever been to. Business with Heart is a concept to bring together businesses and community groups with a passion for growing sustainable, healthy, abundant and caring [...] For those of you not going on the Mums’s Retreat next weekend, there is a fantastic activity planned for Sunday as part of the Ipswich Festival. The Kids Kingdom will be alive with wonder and excitement and Scooby Doo according the brochure. And I just found out a good friend of mine, Barbara Fordham aka Whoa Tilly! Will be performing that afternoon. Here’s a run down of her [...] Mumatopia is hosting support groups for mums-to-be and new mums at The Ellenborough Room, Precious Packages, 17 Ellenborough Street, Ipswich, starting in February 2010 and operating monthly from February to October 2011. The group meeting will start at [...] After a full day, I know we all function better if we have some downtime the next day. I wouldn’t expect my children to be the epitome of angelic behaviour in the supermarket the day after being at Southbank for a whole day and wouldn’t expect myself to be the most patient when I’m tired and out of sync with everyone around me. And yet, it feels like others expect that from me, all the [...] I used to love going to Janette’s shop on a Friday night when it was at her Harlin Road house. You’d walk in and be greeted by a big smile, and lots of lovely, relaxed people enjoying some craft, a glass of wine and a good ole gas bag. And the monthly Twilight Trading event is set to be just as delicious at the new Precious Packages, now snuggled in next to Bon Laneway on Ellenborough Street. The first Twilight Trading event at the new venue is this Friday night, 25 November and I am delighted to be invited to have my work featured on the night. [...] Okay so you haven’t heard from me for a couple of weeks. The truth is, I’ve been head down, bum up, sewing like a crazed woman because there are all sorts of things happening in November and December, starting this Friday with Handmade Heaven at the Gatton Christmas in the Country Arts and Crafts [...] The October Handmade Expo is on this Saturday, from 8am to 2pm. Mumatopia will be there with Sandwich wraps, affirmation bracelets, soap nuts, organic reusable breastpads and baby wipes, Bubbayaya Toys, fabric gift tags, clothes from Little Brown Dog, and baby wraps. Come and say gidday! I’ll be there rain, hail or shine…. hopefully [...] Dancing Tiger Bellydance Studio is hosting a monthly event to showcase inspiring and innovative Ipswich businesses. [...] Next Saturday, Mumatopia is joining forces with Fordicia and Precious Packages at the Ipswich Baby, Toddler and Child Expo. Baby expos are a terrific way to gather information on products and services available to families in the local community.
